Telling the story of the song! Words, words, words! 8. Confidence!!! · Syllabus: I will hold mock auditions for a variety of musicals. The students will need to bring a 16 bar cut of an appropriate song for the musical and character they would like to play. An accompanist will be provided for the musical audition days. After each student has auditioned, I will give feedback on the song choice, acting, professionalism and confidence. On acting mock audition days, I will have excerpts from the script of the musical. They will “cold read” a scene and afterwards be critiqued and have the opportunity to do it again. In December, it will be the Christmas Showcase and in May it will be a Broadway Showcase. We will highlight 3-4 Broadway shows. The group classes will perform the ensemble numbers and the private students will perform the solos. We will rent a theatre and have narration in between numbers to help tell the story of each musical. The showcases will include costumes, lights and microphones! This will be the most effective and fun way to give all of the student’s opportunities to perform in a music theatre setting. View Schedule
